What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at Town and Country Transit?
Town and Country Transit (Equal Opportunity Employer) is looking for a full-time Mechanic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule maintenance of Authority fleet and service vehicles following or exceeding OEM recommendations following established procedures and policy as part of a preventative maintenance program.
- Perform semi-annual vehicle inspections.
- Monitor and maintain parts inventory, equipment, facilities, parts, lubricants, and tires.
- Complete accurate work orders, vehicle maintenance records, vehicle repair records, and mileage for preventative maintenance program.
- Maintain maintenance recordkeeping and computerized systems including handling of sensitive files.
- Order and/or pick up repair parts for vehicle maintenance utilizing purchase order system.
- Repair vehicles and diagnose maintenance concerns efficiently to minimize fleet down time and maintain safe operations.
- Maintain certifications, knowledge, and ability to provide mechanical repairs and vehicle maintenance.
- Available for emergency or road calls.
- Participate with Authority senior staff in compliance reviews.
- Work with Authority on safety initiatives and participates on safety committee.
- Respond to emergency mechanical situations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order.
- Attend trainings and obtain certifications as necessary.
- Serve as back up driver in emergency situations.
- Other job duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Subject to DOT drug & alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion testing as a safety sensitive employee.
- High School Diploma / equivalent, some college preferred.
- Valid PA Driver’s License – CDL with Passenger (P) Endorsement preferred.
- Pass DOT medical exam and keep DOT medical card current.
- Able to work requiring exertion in excess of 100 lbs. force occasionally, in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to use necessary tools and to move objects.
- Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push and pull as necessary to carry out job duties.
- Able to perform job duties requiring prolonged standing, with intermittent periods of sitting, and short walking.
- Requires the ability to use hands dexterously to operate tools or controls.
- Able to perform vehicle maintenance with appropriate dexterity.
