Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments using the MDS tool to evaluate patient needs and care plans.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to gather necessary data for accurate coding and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review patient records from hospital, outpatient, and critical care settings to ensure proper documentation.
- Train and educate staff on MDS processes, coding standards, and best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in healthcare regulations affecting MDS reporting.
Requirements
- Proven experience with MDS assessments and coding in a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems as they relate to patient classification.
- Experience working in acute care or critical care settings is preferred.
