Responsibilities
- Food Preparation:
- Assist in preparing food items such as salad bar items, hot meals, and snacks, following health and safety standards.
- Ensure food is properly stored, labeled, and maintained in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Maintain cleanliness in food prep areas, dining areas, and surrounding spaces.
- Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and clean food preparation equipment.
- Clean tables, chairs, and countertops in the cafeteria to ensure hygiene standards are met.
- Restocking:
- Monitor inventory levels of food, utensils, napkins, condiments, and cleaning supplies.
- Restock food items and utensils during serving hours to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and preparation techniques to prevent contamination.
- Waste Management:
- Properly dispose of food waste, recycling materials, and garbage, following waste disposal protocols.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other cafeteria staff, including cooks, managers, and supervisors, to ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food service or cafeteria setting is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Basic knife handling skills for cutting and chopping of food items
- Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift moderate amounts of weight (e.g., food containers, trays).
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for extended periods during shifts.
