Job Summary
This is a responsible and professional position providing appropriate and effective oversight and project management in furtherance of the mission of the Grand Ave SSD through capacity building.

This position will be a working manager, meaning, any successful candidate will be planning, coordinating and/or carrying out all GASSD programs and special improvements for Grand Avenue. This is a desk job (but you will have a desk).

This position is supervised by the Town Green Special Services District with ongoing input from GASSD commissioners, business owners, and other local stakeholders. The organizations’ missions are as follows:

A successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial approach to the position, exhibit the ability to effectively communicate and advocate on behalf of GASSD and exercise a considerable amount of independent professional judgment. Work is reviewed through meetings with TGSSD and evaluation of progress based on a work plan and demonstrated outcomes.

Responsibilities

· Act as a direct support to GASSD in support of their mission.

· Walk Grand Ave daily to interface with stakeholders and provide quality assurance

· Facilitate and coordinate projects as assigned, including outreach, district needs assessments, outdoor public maintenance program, training, promotion, marketing, contract oversight and community events.

· Meet regularly with TGSSD staff & GASSD constituents to develop relationships and cultivate opportunities for Grand Ave SSD.

· Work closely with neighborhood organizations and stakeholders to identify concerns and opportunities for growth on Grand Ave.

· Build relationships with Grand Ave property owners and business owners, and assist them by addressing concerns, and connecting them with available resources.

· Establish and maintain communication channels with the Alders, GASSD commissioners, business owners, city staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

· Provide local insights and/or updates to GASSD Board of Commissioners, the Alders, and the City of New Haven Economic Development Administration.

· Attend meetings and/or training sessions sponsored by professional organizations and government agencies to maintain up-to-date knowledge of funding sources, laws and regulations, best practices in neighborhood commercial development, and other professional development opportunities.

Requirements

At least two years of commensurate experience as a project manager of community development projects, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in community development, business administration, public administration or a related field preferred but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
