General Definition and Conditions of Work:

  • Perform skilled technical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of Town trucks, vehicles and equipment.
  • Duties include, but not limited to disassembling engines, transmissions, or other similar units in order to inspect parts for wear; repairing or replacing parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, bearings and hydraulics. Conducting inspections and participating in a preventive maintenance program to insure the safe and efficient operation of all town vehicles and related equipment.

Education, Experience and Licenses:

  • Completion of a standard high school course, or equivalent GED program.
  • Vocational or technical certification in the Mechanic Field, electrical, air and hydraulic systems, small engine repair, metal fabrication, and shop maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a mechanic preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License A, or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia State Inspection Sticker License, or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year

This position will remain open until filled.
