What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crew Leader position at Town of Acton?
The Town of Acton is seeking applicants for the full-time, benefitted position of the Crew Leader. This position will coordinate regular activities of the facilities maintenance crew, respond to building related emergencies, and perform and oversee work related to maintaining safe and welcoming facilities for use by residents and employees.
General Duties and Responsibilities: Leads routine to complex work related to the maintenance, repair, and operations of municipal buildings. This position requires manual work in addition to the supervision of crew members performing same. Manage contracts with service providers, and ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations. The applicant hired for this position must be available for snow removal and emergency work as needed.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: High school diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in building maintenance with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved in facilities operations, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, the materials, methods and techniques of maintenance. Proficient verbal, written, and strong interpersonal skills. Considerable skill, diplomacy and tact are required in interacting with the public. Experience with conflict resolution experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of contract, public procurement and budget practices and procedures.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Class D Driver’s License. Aerial Work Platform Safety Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months. OSHA 10 Certification (or higher) or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire or when class is first offered. Building Operator Certification (BOC) or ability to obtain within 12 months unless existing qualifications exceeds BOC.
Pay Rate: A7, starting at $29.52 - $36.87/hr.; $61,416.42 – $76,706.50/yr.
