What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Assistant-Part Time position at Town of Addison?
Under direct supervision, provides care and responsible supervision for children and infants; assists with planning, organizing, and chaperoning programs and special events.
- Provides childcare at the Children’s Activity Center and/or Athletic Club; greets parents, intakes infants and children, and provides direct responsible supervision of those left in the care of staff.
- Assists with planning, organizing, and chaperoning programs and special events; assists with planning of camps and field trips.
- Maintains work areas including toys and craft supplies; cleans and vacuums work areas and child areas; cleans and sanitizes toys, checks for damage or unsafe conditions.
- Assists with staffing front desk or reception areas and providing customer service.
- May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND
- One (1) year of childcare experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be CPR certified or obtain certification within six (6) months of appointment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of childcare and child supervision techniques.
- Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Skill in interacting with the public and patrons tactfully and professionally.
- Skill in listening and assisting children.
- Skill in completing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed throughout assigned recreation facility and requires light exertion and prolonged periods of walking, sitting, and standing.
Routine schedule is 20 hours per week. Hours will vary depending upon staffing level and demand for services. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise.
