What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Light Maintenance/Janitorial position at Town of Addison?
- Cleans and maintains Recreation facilities and equipment on a regular schedule and on as needed basis, including, but not limited to:
- Cleans fitness equipment, fitness mirrors; sweeps indoor courts, aerobics studio.
- Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, locker rooms areas; restocks bathroom supplies; scrubs floor and grout.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles and takes to dumpster.
- Dusts and cleans ceiling fans, air vents, and windows; spot cleans and vacuums carpet, floors.
- Cleans and maintains indoor and outdoor pool including sweeping or vacuuming pool, sweeping and scrubbing pool deck, and cleaning pool fixtures.
- Maintains equipment and materials used in the work and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Performs all tasks as related to the repair and maintenance of Recreation facilities and equipment, including fitness equipment.
- Assists with light maintenance responsibilities that could include ceiling tile replacement, painting, carpet cleaning/repair, or window cleaning, etc.
- Demonstrates the ability to be trainable on all equipment related to the maintenance and repairs.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools as related to the repair and maintenance of Recreation equipment and facilities.
- Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, and all work areas.
- Responsible to learn department procedures and safety practices.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up for classes, activities, special events, and meetings.
- May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND
- One (1) year of maintenance and repair experience preferably in service environments; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in general maintenance.
- Knowledge of routine maintenance and cleaning procedures.
- Skill in identifying and attending to areas where maintenance or custodial services are needed in an efficient manner.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions. Work requires exposure to potentially dangerous tools, equipment, machinery, and chemicals. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and work at great heights.
This is non-exempt position. Routine schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. May be required to work overtime if needed.
