- The Town is looking to hire eight (8) Seasonal Camp Counselors for the Addison Athletic Club's upcoming Camp Season!Bonus Opportunities:
- Sign-On Bonus: $300.00 if the employee starts on or before June 2, 2025.
- Referral Bonus: $50.00 for Town employees if they refer a candidate who is successfully onboarded into a Seasonal position with the Addison Athletic Club.
- Retention Bonus: $250.00 if the employee works through the last day of camp.
Under the direct supervision of the Children’s Recreation Coordinator, the Summer Camp Counselor plays an essential role in fostering the growth and development of children (Ages 6 -12) at the Addison Athletic Club (AAC) Summer Camp. This role emphasizes building strong character values, emotional regulation, and social interaction in campers of varying abilities and is representative of the philosophy, mission and goals of the AAC and its Summer Camp Program.
Plans and coordinates activities with the Children’s Recreation Coordinator such as arts & crafts, swimming, field trips, gym games, special events, outside activities, and much more. Adapt activities on the spot to accommodate the emotional, physical, and social needs of
campers.Supports emotional regulation and social interaction. Assists campers of varying abilities in emotional regulation and social interactions, offering guidance and support in conflict resolution, teamwork, and appropriate communication. Model positive behaviors such as patience, respect, and empathy. Responsive to campers’ needs and wherever possible involve group in decision making. Actively involve campers in decision making process where appropriate, promoting a sense of responsibility, self-esteem, and teamwork among the group. Provide leadership and supervision during activities, ensuring their safety, well being, and engagement. Make consistent, clear decisions that promote a positive and structured camp environment. Responsible for reporting and assisting the Children’s Recreation Coordinator in all accidents occurring during camp. Maintain detailed documentation of trip logs, registration forms, behavior incidents, and accident reports. Provide feedback to the Recreation Coordinator on camper progress, challenges, and accomplishments. Assists in all functions related to the running of the Addison Summer Camp. Acts as a role model and provides direct supervision of campers. Lead programs while balancing multiple responsibilities at once ensuring all aspects of camp activities run smoothly and effectively. Demonstrate creativity in adapting activities to meet the evolving needs of campers. Creates and maintains a safe, positive environment for all campers. Assist in ensuring that all campers are supervised at all times, especially during high-risk activities like swimming or field trips. Be prepared to implement emergency drills and procedures when necessary. Maintains a neat appearance; wearing an appropriate staff shirt/uniform during daily operations. Attend all required staff trainings, in-services and meetings. Responsible for following all policy and guidelines. Responsible for maintaining discipline during Summer Camp. Reviews and understands all emergency drills and be prepared to implement them. Discuss with parents any experience each child in the group has at camp. Assists with the supervision of swimming activities. Performs related duties as required or assigned.
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Any combination of education, training and work experience equivalent to the completion of high school; AND Must be at least 18 years of age; AND Experience in summer camp, day care, church camp, public recreation, and/or outdoor activities is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
A valid Texas Driver’s License and a safe driving record. Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen. Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR training will be provided.
Knowledge of sports activities, arts and crafts, environmental sciences, cultural arts, etc. Knowledge of decision making in emergency situations. Knowledge of basic computer and clerical skills. Skilled in organizing, supervising, and disciplining children, and creating a positive camp environment. Skilled in recognizing potential hazards. Ability to work effectively with children 6-12 years of age. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Duties involve some exertion which can be strenuous. Noise level in Club may be loud because of racquetball, exercise equipment, and various pumps and appliances. Lifts recreation equipment, furniture, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds and sets up in activity area. Assignments will involve both indoor activities in an air-conditioned building and outdoor games subject to extremes of weather and temperature. Work in an outdoor setting exposed to heat, dust, wind, insects, noxious plants, and snakes. Participate in various sports and recreational activities; ability to lift loaded ice chests and items up to 50 lbs., stoop, walk, bend, run, throw, climb, and swim.
Salary : $17 - $20
