Bonus Opportunities:
- Sign-On Bonus:
- $300.00 if the employee starts on or before May 19, 2025, and works Memorial Day Weekend.
- $250.00 if the employee starts by May 29, 2025.
- $150.00 if the employee starts by June 17, 2025.
- Referral Bonus: $50.00 for Town employees if they refer a candidate who is successfully onboarded into a Seasonal position with the Addison Athletic Club.
- Retention Bonus: $250.00 if available to work all weekends through the end of the season.
- Holiday Bonus: $50.00 if available to work on a Town holiday.
Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor to supervise the activities and operations of the Addison Athletic Club swimming pool facilities. Responsible for all areas of safety and welfare of users, staff, equipment, and facilities; handles emergencies if they develop. Position requires regular contact with the public in both structured and unstructured situations that will require considerable tact and judgment.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates pool shift personnel; handles coaching and disciplinary problems with training and guidance from supervisor; assigns job duties; oversees maintenance of facilities.
- Ensures patron safety by enforcing pool rules and regulations; performs water rescues and administers basic first aid as needed.
- Carries out emergency operating procedures and notifies proper authorities.
- Practices weekly in-service training and rescue skills for the lifeguard staff.
- Directs and demonstrates proper and safe use of facility equipment; ensures policy and proper procedures are followed at all times; handles emergencies if they develop.
- Performs regular water tests for pool chemistry.
- Performs minor maintenance and custodial tasks; reports larger maintenance problems; opens and closes facilities.
- Meets and greet the public; answers telephone; inputs and retrieves computer data.
- Prepares various daily and weekly reports and schedules.
- Performs cashier duties.
- Offers support for recreational, civic, and cultural activities in which the Town participates; assists in various administrative tasks.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND
- Two (2) seasons of experience as Senior or Head Lifeguard. Two (2) seasons of experience as Pool Supervisor is preferred; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification is preferred.
Conditions of Employment:
- Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid required.
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification required.
- American Red Cross AED Essentials is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of testing pool chemicals.
- Knowledge of basic computer and clerical skills.
- Skilled in supervising and evaluating the work of others.
- Skilled in enforcing pool rules and regulations.
- Skilled in operating pool handicap lift.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships.
Lifts equipment, furniture, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds and sets up in area of activity. Position requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, twisting upper body, reaching, pulling, climbing, and lifting. Work is usually performed outdoors and employee will be subject to extremes of weather and temperatures, as well as high noise levels. Must be able to perform emergency rescue drills as required as a condition of continued employment.
Hours will vary depending upon staffing level and demand for services. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. Works rotating shifts, sometimes on short notice.
Salary : $22 - $27
