POSITION DESCRIPTION
Recorder for the Town Council
Town Manager’s Office
FLSA – Non-Exempt
Part-time (variable hours, up to 36 hours per month)
Part-time Salary Schedule, Level 6
Job Summary:
Prepare meeting minutes for the Amherst Town Council and its standing committees.
Supervision Received:
Works under the general supervision of the Clerk of the Council, who assigns tasks based on overall objectives and workload requirements, reviews work, and evaluates performance.
Supervision Exercised:
Generally none.
Major Duties:
- Writes complete and accurate records of meetings, including meeting date, time and location; who was in attendance; a summary of the discussions for all agenda items; and a record of all official votes taken.
- Completes all meeting minutes in a timely manner and submit drafts to the Clerk of the Council prior to the next scheduled meeting for Council or committee approval.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND any equivalent combination of education and experience or training demonstrating ability to perform above duties efficiently.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with the public and coworkers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual communications capabilities preferred.
Tools and Equipment Used:
Computer, including word processing software; copy machine; and other standard office equipment.
