Description
Under the direct supervision of the Student Services Director in consultation with the building principal, assistant principal, and program head. He / She is responsible for facilitating IEP Team meetings at assigned school. In addition, the Educational Team Facilitator will assist in providing quality programming for children with diverse special needs.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Building Principal, and in conjunction with the Special Head Program Head :
- Act as LEA Representative at Evaluation Team and Individual Education Program team meetings;
- Schedule meetings and provide written notice to assure compliance with special education regulations;
- Record meeting minutes and complete all relevant special education paperwork at Evaluation Team and Individual Education Program team meetings;
- Chair Evaluation Team meetings and lead the team in all relevant eligibility and evaluation decisions;
- Chair Individualized Education Program meetings, lead the team in all relevant educational decisions, and check IEPs for compliances;
- Assure that any student receiving or entitled to receive special education instruction under IDEA receives a full and comprehensive evaluation;
- Ensure the involvement of parents in the special education process and provide basic explanations of parental rights and procedural safeguards and responsibilities under IDEA;
- Interpret special education eligibility reports from a variety of service providers and out of district evaluators;
- Ensure that the Evaluation Team follows procedural safeguards at all stages of the special education process;
- Facilitate transition planning between levels and for students entering and returning from out of district placements. Participate in facilitation of students transitioning into and out of assigned school;
- Attend district and school site special education team meetings;
- Maintain student records and protect their confidentiality;
- Coordinate transition planning activities and transition assessments for students with IEPs;
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Student Services, Principal or Program Head.
