What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Inclusion - Summer Program position at Town of Andover?
Under general direction of Recreation Director/ Assistant Director /Recreation Programmer; Our Program Inclusion Director will be responsible for helping with the overall operation and success of program through the lens of program inclusion. Responsibilities include providing direction and instruction to staff, training them in the inclusion of activities/duties, and communicating related program outcomes with members of the public/participants/parents. Providing additional assistance to program participants and working with parents and school personnel on summer program success plans.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Recreation Director, Assistant Director, Recreation Programmer
- Supervises inclusionary programing aspects for participants and staff.
- Develops individual participant success planning throughout the summer.
- Instructs program staff in the performance of specific duties as they relate to inclusion.
- Trains program staff in best practices
- Prepares reports as requested.
- Enforces all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of visitors, parents, and participants. .
- Administers first aid as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and have two years of experience working with children, preferably in a special education or behavioral setting.
- Previous experience in a responsible leadership position.
- Ability to establish an effective working relationship with parents, employees, and the general public.
- Experience in coordinating, planning, organizing, and implementing activities for children is required.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Emphasis will be placed on ability to develop and implement staffing best practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records regarding participants' vital statistics.
- Ability to work outdoors in summer heat.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Behavioral Studies, Psychology, Social Work or Counseling, Recreation or Education preferred.
- Possession of a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
- Identify and respond to hazards.
- Work with different age and skill levels.
- Assist in the case of an emergency.
- Must be able to work outside in extreme conditions (heat/noise, etc.).
- Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of patrons.
