Kid Care - Assistant Group Leader

The Assistant Group Leader maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all, and provides a quality experience to the community. The assistant group leader is responsible for supporting a licensed school-age childcare program at an assigned location. They serve as a supportive team member, a positive role model for youth, and an enthusiastic participant in large and small group activities.

Welcome to Andover Recreation Kid Care. Our school age childcare program has been organized to provide supervision for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Andover Recreation Kid Care is a school age childcare program licensed by the State of Massachusetts. 1. Support a program to meet state licensing requirements and Kid Care standards for quality school age childcare programs 
2. Provide a physically and psychologically safe environment and atmosphere for youth and staff 
3. Establish a fun, developmentally engaging environment & activities via appropriate techniques
4. Build positive relationships with youth in program, engage and monitors at all times 
5. Support youth management to include regular attendance, headcounts and managing behaviors with support of the Site Director 
6. Actively engage in program to include facilitating and participating in activities, administering snack, effective site set up and site break down 
7. Respond to incidents and emergencies, medical related and otherwise, following appropriate procedures and training 
8. Build and maintain effective relationships with parents/guardians 

• Acts as a role model within and outside the department 
• Performs duties as workload necessitates
• Maintains a positive and respectful attitude
• Communicates regularly with supervisor regarding workplace concerns
• Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
• Accountable for completion of assigned goals measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties 
• Ability to work with diverse population, including but not limited to, all races, ethnicities, ages, genders and gender identities, sexual orientations and diverse abilities
• Attend and actively participate in all meetings as assigned

• Meet state licensing requirements of an Assistant Group Leader:
  1. At least 16 years of age, work under the direct supervision of a group leader, and either
     • Have a high school diploma or equivalent: or
     • Be currently enrolled in a high school program
• Capacity to engage and interact with children in a nurturing and creative manner
• Exhibit desire to work as part of a team
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
• Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
