Description of Work:
The Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Regulatory and Compliance Specialist. This ideal candidate will provide a variety of routine and complex administrative duties to include reviewing documentation and procedures, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on compliance-related issues, and performing compliance audits related to the Water/Wastewater Department.
Essential Job Functions:
· Reviews documentation, processes, and practices.
· Develops and enacs regulatory compliance strategies.
· Coordinates regulatory compliance procedures across organizational structures.
· Provides training in compliance practices and procedures.
· Monitors compliance and facilitating interventions to manage risks.
· Performs compliance audits and compiling reports.
· Documents compliance-related processes and maintaining records.
· Keeps abreast of regulatory changes and developments in the regulatory environment.
· Performs grant administration duties for Water and Wastewater related projects.
· Assists Superintendent in reviewing and updating policies and procedures related to Water and Wastewater department and compliance operations.
· Assists Superintendent on annual Inventory Asset Management as required by administration.
· May be required to attend meetings and/or conferences on behalf of department.
· Performs duties such as composing correspondence for approval and signature, assembles documents, required sampling reports, sampling action plans and correspondence.
· Maintains filing systems, control records, file correspondence, memos and reports, retrieve and copy materials as needed.
· Prepares timely reports to state and federal government agencies (USEPA & TCEQ) as required on a regular monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, or annual schedule.
· Develops and maintains office forms and procedures. Duplicate and distribute material.
· Responsible for complying with the preparation of purchase requisitions, purchase orders related to any and all Water and Wastewater sampling programs.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED Certificate of Completion: plus, any combination of college level education, (Associates degree in Water Technology or related field plus two years' experience) or administrative experiences totaling four (4) years.
· Proficiency in office and compliance management.
· Knowledge of water /wastewater standards including Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) policies.
· Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Groundwater D/Wastewater Treatment D license or able to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Computer literate, proficiency in MS Word, WordPerfect, Excel- to create spreadsheets and reports
· Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
· Ability to type with accuracy: business letters, reports and summaries.
· Good knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, proofreading.
· Ability and knowledge of mathematics to accurately calculate formulas used in the water/wastewater industry.
Requirements/Certifications/Licenses:
· Valid Driver's License.
· Minimum four (4) years' experience in office administration operations utilizing extensive computer use.
· Must successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and post-offer employment medical examination.
· Must be able to attend training out of town as required to obtain the necessary certification and other training as necessary.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekends as needed
