Position Overview:
The Town of Avon, Colorado, is accepting applications for a Recreation - Program Instructor I (Day Camp) Part Time Seasonal or Year-Round.
The Recreation Program Instructor I (Day Camp) is responsible for assisting with, instructing, and participating in age-appropriate activities for the Recreation Center’s after-school, school’s out and/or summer camp programs. This position is a school-aged aide qualified position and can be summer camp seasonal or part-time year-round. Summer Camp training begins June 4th-6th and Summer Camp begins June 9th-August 15th.

Essential Functions:
* Assist with supervising, interacting, and providing care in a calm, safe, playful environment for children.
* Interacts with children through developmentally appropriate activities such as games, art, and other planned activities.
* Follow Colorado State School-aged licensing policies.
* Conduct sign-in and sign-out procedures and is always accountable for the whereabouts of children.
* Complete cleaning checklist for opening or closing shifts.
* Monitor condition of equipment, report damage to Recreation Program Instructor II, Recreation Program Instructor III or Recreation Program Coordinator
* Report any injuries to the Program Instructor II or Program Instructor III and submit an incident report to the Recreation Program Coordinator
* Comply with all Town of Avon safety and health policies and procedures, including the use of protective equipment and clothing, to ensure all possible safety measures are observed, enforce the rules of the Recreation Center and Avon
* Elementary School to promote a safe work environment.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
* Knowledge and interest of children and concern for their proper care and wellbeing

* Ability to perform physical duties requiring a full range of body movements.
* Ability to handle confidential issues appropriately.
* Ability to follow directions and effectively communicate with children, Recreation Center staff, school officials and parents.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle emergency situations, and make sound decisions.
Special Requirements:
Program Instructor I position requires applicants to be at least 16 years of age, have a state issued ID and experience with school-age children (5-12 years old) is preferred but not required, training will be provided. Possession of a current CPR/AED/First Aid certificate is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
