Seasonal (SEAS) position
Job Description:
Technical, office, and laboratory work in the protection of public health and the environment; all other related work as required. May through September, 16 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
Collects environmental data, takes photographs, takes water samples, conducts laboratory tests and analysis, calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment; post signs at public sites, uses a variety of methods and tools (observation, laboratory testing) to assist in determining the nature and sources of pollution.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school degree with an interest in biology, physical science, environmental science, or related field. Some laboratory experience preferred but not required. Valid driver’s license. Must provide personal vehicle during the workday to retrieve samples from lakes and ponds within the Town.
Additional Qualifications:
Some knowledge of physical science, and research methods. Knowledge of water quality problems. Ability to obtain water samples and to perform laboratory tests. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate a camera using a tablet. Ability to perform some duties under unpleasant weather conditions. Ability to operate a kayak, canoe, and a boat. Skill in using laboratory and field sampling equipment. Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets and database.
