The Town of Bennett is hiring a Civil Engineer I, Civil Engineer II or Senior Civil Engineer.

The Engineering positions apply professional civil engineering knowledge and skills to a
variety of engineering projects. Responsibilities scale with experience level, from
entry-level engineering support to leading complex projects and policy development.
Duties include reviewing engineering plans, technical reports, and construction projects to
ensure compliance with Town standards and regulatory requirements.
* The role of Town Engineer is currently filled and will be the required goal for any applicant to
transition into. The timeline for transition will be based on the applicant's prior knowledge and
experience.
SALARY RANGE:
Civil Engineer I: $81,400 - $97,500 plus benefits package
Civil Engineer II: $84,000 - $102,200 plus benefits package
Senior Civil Engineer: $99,700- $118,100 plus benefits package
*All position levels qualify for a hiring bonus or relocation reimbursement. *

Civil Engineer I:
- Conducts plan review for development and capital projects.
- Conducts and records field evaluations and site inspections.
- Supports research and technical analyses for engineering projects.
- Responds to technical inquiries from residents, contractors, and developers.
- Assists with stormwater quality permitting and basic infrastructure assessments.
- Attends regular development meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Civil Engineer II (In addition to Engineer I responsibilities):
- Manages smaller capital projects, including engineering, construction, easement and permitting activities and resources.
- Leads meetings on projects, including technical and non-technical participants.
- Manages development projects from an engineering perspective.
- Conducts technical analyses on water, stormwater, roadways, and geotechnical reports.
- Manages site plan, subdivision, and infrastructure submittals
Senior Civil Engineer (In addition to Engineer II responsibilities):
- Reviews and evaluates complex project proposals, including engineering submittals and reports.
- Manages program budget, including multiple projects, from concept to acceptance and commissioning.
- Provides engineering input on long-range planning and town policy development.
- Presents projects and findings to the Board of Trustees.
- Manages and leads regular updates to Town Engineering standards Advises on strategic engineering initiatives, including stormwater and transportation planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Civil Engineer I:
- Beginning knowledge in specification and standards.
- Basic knowledge in civil engineering practices.
- Ability to read and understand a set of plans.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for public presentations and technical reporting.
Civil Engineer II (In addition to Engineer I knowledge, skills and abilities):
- Proficiency with engineering software (GIS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Basic Understanding in other jurisdiction permitting processes.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards.
Senior Civil Engineer (In addition to Engineer II knowledge, skills and abilities):
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, land development, and infrastructure design.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of town planning for future growth.
- Understanding of how to develop an annual budget.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Civil Engineer I: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Recent graduate to two years of relevant experience.
- Civil Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Three to four years of relevant experience.
- Senior Civil Engineer: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Civil Engineer I: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification preferred.
- Civil Engineer II: Professional Engineer (PE) license required within one year of hire.
- Senior Civil Engineer: Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred as an additional certification.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License required for all levels.
Work Environment:
- Office setting with periodic fieldwork.
- Moderate noise level.
- May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
