What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatics Instructor position at Town of Breckenridge?
The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Aquatics Instructor. Aquatics instructors are responsible for design, instruction, leadership and oversight of aquatic programs and services. Aquatics instructors teach both private lessons and group classes for a variety of aquatic programs, with beginner to advanced students. This involves maintaining knowledge of specific methodologies or practices for appropriate participant/employee education and utilizing appropriate techniques and progressions in order to ensure a quality product. Instructors develop class and progression curriculums and lesson plans, and monitor that swimming skills and techniques are being performed properly and safely. - Must be 16 years of age or older.
- To qualify for this position the candidate or employee must pass a criminal background check.
- Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications are required.
- Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
- Current American Red Cross WSI Certification (or equivalent), or that expired less than one (1) year ago.
- One (1) or more years of aquatics instructional experience preferred.
- One (1) or more years of customer service experience preferred.
- American Red Cross WSI Instructor Trainer or equivalent.
Typical Hiring Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.65 per hour.
WORK SCHEDULE
Primary shifts for this position include varying evening shifts beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings. Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability; and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
