The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking dedicated, highly responsible and customer service oriented individuals for the position of Youth Instructor. Youth Instructors are responsible for interfacing with guests in order to meet or exceed guest needs with respect to facility, program or service needs. This includes providing information, implementing or carrying out pre-planned programs or activities, assisting with program planning, cash handling, enforcing policies or procedures, and generally representing the department in the most quality and service-oriented manner possible.The individual(s) in this position are responsible for working with children/youth at the Breckenridge Recreation Center, primarily ages 2 months – 12 years old. The duties will primarily involve supervising children ensuring positive interaction, maintaining even control and resolving disciplinary problems, planning and leading camper activities and ensuring children/youth are engaged and participating fully. Youth Instructors are also responsible for interacting with the campers and parents, being accountable for the campers at all times, and operating within State Licensing requirements for the BMC Summer Camp program and afterschool programs. Additional responsibilities for this position include adhering to proper check-in and checkout procedures, providing excellent customer service and responding to phone and in-person inquires, and supervising children in the Recreation Center while providing a fun and safe experience. This position may also be responsible for leading games and activities, providing snacks, assisting children in the restroom or changing diapers, cleaning and sanitizing the work area, and other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Typical Hiring Pay Range: $20.50 - $21.75 per hour. SENSITIVITY STATUSBecause the Town's Recreation Department positions may involve direct contact with children, the Town requires that the incumbent in this position must have a clear criminal history that bears on their fitness to have responsibility for the safety and well-being of children.WORK SCHEDULEPrimary shifts for this position generally are Monday - Friday during the school year from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., and on No School Days and Summer Camp dates, shifts are Monday - Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., as needed. Shifts vary due to participants needs & schedule. Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability; and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is 'Open Until Filled'.
