The Natural Resources Laborer supports the Natural Resources Technician in maintaining, repairing, and preserving natural areas, facilities, and resources throughout the park district.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assists with general maintenance tasks in park lands and open spaces, including trail clearing, removing debris, minor erosion control, and litter collection.
- Supports the construction and maintenance of basic structures such as fences, signs, and gates; assists with repairs and upkeep of drainage systems, culverts, and other natural resource infrastructure.
- Aids in landscaping activities, including mowing, trimming, and basic lawn care; performs general grounds maintenance to support native plantings and open spaces.
- Help identify and remove invasive plant species; perform simple pest control tasks as directed.
- Assists in the implementation of resource management practices, including planting, mulching, and monitoring natural areas.
- Prepares tools and equipment for daily use; performs routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Assists with seasonal and part-time staff by working collaboratively to complete assigned tasks; may provide guidance on specific tasks.
- Helps monitor and maintain inventory of tools and materials, notifying supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Provides support during volunteer projects and community events as assigned, helping with setup, teardown, and task completion.
- Ensures adherence to safety protocols and immediately reports any hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
