The Selectman Administrative Assistant works 25 hours per week and provides support to the First Selectman. The role involves managing the First Selectman’s schedule, answering inquiries from the public, employees, and vendors, and helping with meeting preparations (including agendas and room bookings). The assistant also processes permits, orders supplies and prepares correspondence. Confidentiality about matters discussed or handled by the First Selectman’s Office is absolutely essential and a critical job requirement.
Strong communication, organizational, and Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and Word) are required. The assistant must also be able to work independently and maintain professionalism when dealing with the public, even in stressful situations. The position also involves some physical tasks like sitting, standing, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
