What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard (Seasonal) position at Town of Carrizozo?
Prepare to rescue, resuscitates, and provides basic first aid and CPR to all patrons. Maintains chlorine levels in the pool.
Clean pool and surrounding area.
Follows acceptable guard rotation for each station.
Inspects equipment and facilities on a regular basis to ensure proper maintenance.
Public relations.
Enforces rules and regulations at the pool.
Operate emergency equipment and utilize first aid supplies.
Janitorial duties (cleaning restrooms, cleaning and disinfecting showers.)
Crowd control in emergency situations.
Completes personnel timesheet accurately and timely.
Ensures time reported is based on actual time worked.
Ensures that any on the job injury is reported immediately and followed up with appropriate forms and actions.
Reports harassment immediately to supervisor.
May be required to work and/or help in other areas/activities of the Parks and Recreation department.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a United States citizen.
Minimum age of 16.
Ability to recognize a dangerous situation in the pool area.
Must be able to perform in emergency situations.
Ability to prevent or handle emergency and potential dangerous situations.
Ability to see and observe behavior.
Ability to hear the sound of someone calling for help in a noisy environment.
Must be able to pass criminal history checks.
Must possess a New Mexico driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting, standing, walking, or swimming for extended periods of time.
Walking on uneven and slippery surfaces.
Maintain proper hydration and skin protection routine.
Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Frequent squatting, bending, twisting, climbing, and kneeling.
Climbing ladders and ascending and descending stairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Possess ability to adapt to inclement weather conditions and/or situations. Primarily works outside.May work a fairly irregular schedule, early mornings, long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays.Ability to perform duties and adapt to flexible work schedules as established by management.May be called when needed.Noise level could be moderate to loud in work environment.
Ability to work in stressful environment and deal effectively with stress.
