In this role, you will perform complex technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and electrical/electronic control systems throughout the Cary Remote Wastewater Facility Infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for testing, maintaining, and implementing electrical/electronic control systems, field instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA networks, and the repair of industrial and municipal electrical systems. USM positions are designated as "critical positions", meaning employees are required to report to work during adverse weather or other emergency situations, to ensure continued operation of the facility.
- This position will report daily at/near 400 James Jackson, Cary NC 27513.
USM positions are part of our established career ladder program that provides for the advancement of non-supervisory staff members in eligible positions who demonstrate increasing levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Depending upon the level of attainment in the career ladder, an employee may have lead worker duties over other plant personnel. The minimum certification level is determined by the career ladder criteria.
Typical Tasks
Performs scheduled calibration and routine checks of meters, chart recorders, electronic control valves, circuit boards, motor control centers, pumps, motors, and complicated instrumentation equipment.
Maintains automatic controls at various wastewater pump station facilities.
Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all electrical and electronic equipment, including pumps and Level indicators.
Makes recommendations on equipment or instrumentation needed for use in upcoming budgets.
Designs, tests, implements and maintains SCADA system; develops trends from SCADA historian.
Maintains all records associated with instrumentation which include daily, weekly, and monthly flows.
Responds to failure in any of the electrical systems and makes necessary replacements or repairs.
Performs equipment upgrades and modifications.
Purchases electrical and electronic material or equipment as necessary.
Installs new equipment; pulls new service connections for motors, etc.
Serves as facility liaison, working with integrators and Town staff.
Maintains Electronics parts inventory and backups of all facility PLC programs.
Provides training to facility staff.Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
A valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record is required.
PREFERS:
Experience working with electrical voltage up to 575volts.
Experience with single and three-phase voltage types.
Experience reading electrical schematics.
Experience with the operation of wastewater pump stations.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
