Are you passionate about tennis and do you enjoy helping others? Cary’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources department is seeking highly skilled tennis players to join our team at the Cary Tennis Park!
These roles will assist other tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff in routine management of programs including camp, clinics, tournaments and special events. Ideal candidates will be comfortable teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, both juniors and adults. Candidates should be USPTA or USPTR certified.
Work will require a flexible schedule which will include weekdays, evenings, and Saturday availability as needed.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.
Typical Tasks
- Assists tennis professionals and full-time tennis staff as required
- Assists with camp and clinic tennis instruction
- Encourages and promotes utilization of the Cary Tennis Park
- Manages program and participant evaluations
- Assists with tournaments and special events
- Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of tennis skills, rules and strategies and some knowledge of other sports
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of recreation and physical education
- Knowledge of business administration and practices in planning and researching programs, clinics and tournaments
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and the public verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records
- Ability to resolve disputes with fairness and impartially.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Education and Experience
Requires tennis playing experience at a minimum of the High School Varsity level or other organized playing experience at a similar level.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:
- Some experience teaching.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to be out on the tennis courts, in some cases in extreme weather conditions, for extended periods of time and to feed tennis balls for extended periods of time
Special Requirements
