What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Counselor position at Town of Castle Rock?

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the daily implementation of program standards.
- Maintains a comfortable environment for the safety, health and well-being of participants.
- Assists with planning and coordination of activities, including set up and clean up.
- Supervises and leads children through a variety of activities including organized sports, swimming, weekly field trips, arts and crafts, and games. Provides appropriate discipline and guidance as needed.
- Processes enrollments and registrations for students. Collects payments.
- Communicates with parents regarding their children daily during drop off and pick up.
- Ensures safety practices are followed. Administers First Aid and performs CPR if necessary.
- Cleans, sanitizes and organizes classroom.
- Provides transportation for participants by driving a van. Performs safety checks of vans.
- Must complete fifteen (15) training hours annually.
- May provide leadership and guidance to Camp Aides and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: Must have at least 3 months (480 hours) of full-time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience working with school-aged children in a similar setting; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- Current CPR, First Aid, Standard Precautions, and Medication Administration Certifications required or ability to obtain such certifications upon hire

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.

Must provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Division upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Skill in oral communications for effective expression and clarity.
- Skill in operating a multi-passenger vehicle safely.
- Skill in performing CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to respond to parent and child concerns with considerable tact and courtesy.
Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check including Colorado Bureau of Investigations and TRAILS/Central Registry criminal record review as required by the Colorado Department of Social Services prior to commencing employment.
