What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Attendant position at Town of Castle Rock?

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plays, interacts with and supervises play activities of children. Ensures the safety of the children during play activities
- Checks children in and out of the facility to the proper guardian
- Determines applicability of grace period and appropriate charges for care. Collects payment
- Cleans the classroom and disinfects toys and other frequently handled objects
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
Experience: Experience in childcare and customer service preferred
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications are required; or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skill in performing CPR and First Aid
- Skill in caring for children and responding to their needs
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with established Town policies and procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, supervisor and coworkers
Physical Demands:
- Physical ability to lift and hold children
- Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
- Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment
Equipment Used:
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
