Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts in the capacity of a PGA instructor for the Junior Golf Academy classes and clinics. May teach other group golf lessons.
- Assesses participants’ level of play, and using professional judgment and expertise, develops content and implements daily lesson plans for students at varying skill levels. Monitors participants and ensures proper technique is followed. Provides individualized instruction when necessary.
- Trains Golf Junior Instructors on golf instruction, teaching philosophies, and the management of programs to include clinics, juniors, group, and player development.
- Maintains a credible golf game and remains current on teaching innovations.
- Provides customer service by answering questions regarding the golf course and responding to customer concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: Six (6) months of teaching experience is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Licenses and/or Certifications: Currently enrolled in and/or completed Level 1 of the PGA/GPTP or LPGA/B certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skill in instructing others.
- Skill in interacting with public/program participants.
- Ability to physically perform golf instruction and demonstrate class skills/moves.
- Ability to design and deliver effective instructional programs.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically perform golf instruction and demonstrate class skills/moves
- Sedentary work for long periods of time
- Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
- Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
- Works outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
Equipment Used:
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
