Adventure Program Specialist
PAY: $15.85 per hour

Participate! Actively engage while supervising participants of all ages. Encourage and invite participation, set an example for positive and inclusive learning and play. Assist with instruction and support participants in archery, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, and more!
Be a Leader. Manage participants and their behavior, lead games and activities, promote skill development, creativity, and exploration. Assist participants with special needs, make adaptations to games and activities for inclusive play.
Ensure Safety! Ensure the safe operation of the Indoor Rock Wall. Inspect and maintain equipment. Administer belay certification tests. Address safety issues/concerns with participants. Complete and submit required reports.
Communicate. Develop relationships with staff, parents, and participants; be empathic, build trust, and display patience. Mediate and resolve conflicts and behaviors. Provide positive and corrective feedback.

Attend to injuries. Provide first aid. Complete and submit reports. Inventory and restock supplies. Perform C.P.R. and utilize A.E.D.
Learn and Grow. Attend and participate in staff orientation and trainings. Give and receive feedback. Provide input.
Support Programs & Facilities. Set up, break down, and maintain supplies and equipment. Clean and maintain safe spaces. Drive a 15-passenger van of participants and staff (only those staff that are 21 years or older who have been approved). Be flexible and adapt to changes; assist and support where needed.
Where You’ll Work
You’ll be working indoors and outdoors at recreation centers, parks, lakes, rivers, and trails. You’ll travel in Town vehicles to offsite locations for trips. Programs run year-round run, and you may experience hot temperatures and inclement weather.
When You’ll Work
You’ll work year-round, evenings and weekends, up to 10 hours per week, no more than 950 hours within a rolling calendar year.

- Memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!
- Are 18 years of age or older.
- Have three or more years participating in adventure/outdoor recreation programs.
- Want to discover new things and work to overcome challenges.
- Want to get paid while having FUN!
- Have at least one or more year(s) experience leading youth in adventure-oriented recreation classes and/or programs.
- Are USA Archery Level I Instructor certified.
- Are American Canoe Association certified.
- Are belayed certified.
- Speak well enough to effectively communicate with campers and/or their parents in Burmese, Karen, Spanish and/or Mandarin.
- Have experience working with children on the autism spectrum, with Down Syndrome, or with other developmental disabilities.
