What are the responsibilities and job description for the SERVICE ATTENDANT position at Town of Chapel Hill?
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties on Chapel Hill Transit Bus Shelters, Bus Stops and the Transit Facility. Additionally, this position will assist with cleaning department vehicles as needed.
Maintains Chapel Hill Transit Bus Shelters and Bus Stops. This includes pressure washing Bus Shelters, emptying refuse, replacing glass, replacing solar light bulbs and other minor repairs as needed.
Performs daily vehicle service requirements - Fuels buses, cars and vans on a daily basis. Accurately and Legibly Maintains related records; checks fluid levels and fills to proper level; washes and cleans buses, cars and vans
Performs all phases of interior and exterior CHT vehicle cleaning, which includes, but is not limited to, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, dome lights, hand rails, seats, upholstery, gum removal, graffiti removal, trash removal, air conditioning condensers, accessibility lifts, and wheels
Maintains cleaning supply inventory; reports to supervisory staff when supplies need to be replenished
Performs visual inspections of CHT vehicles to identify vehicle damage and/or mechanical problems and reports such issues to supervisor; changes light bulbs, minor vehicle components when required
Performs light building maintenance such as repairing plumbing leaks, drywall repairs and changing light bulbs
Performs other duties as required

The work is typically performed while standing or stooping and bending. The employee uses equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and may occasionally lift heavy objects.

Driving Requirements
Employee must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit within six months of employment. Obtaining a permit requires self-study and passing a written exam.
Employee must obtain CDL within one (1) year of employment. Chapel Hill Transit will provide the necessary training once employee obtains the permit. This position has been classified as safety sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

$2,500 TOTAL SIGN ON BONUS FOR NEW TEAM MEMBERS
($1,000 paid at 6 months / $1,500 paid at 1 year)
*must meet safety and attendance goals at each 6 month interval*
