SUMMARY
The Chittenden Select Board Administrative Assistant acts as a secretary and provides basic administrative support to the Select Board. The position interacts with all Select Board members, as well as members of the public. The position reports directly to the Select Board Chair. This is a part-time hourly position with an expectation of 4-6 hours per typical work week. In person attendance for Select Board meetings is required. Routine meetings are currently scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.

The Administrative Assistant may be required to undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall objectives of the Town of Chittenden.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Attend Select Board meetings, annual Town Meeting, and additional special meetings as scheduled or needed.
· Organize and prepare documents and correspondence for meetings.
· Run remote meeting technology for Select Board meetings.
· Draft, distribute, post, and finalize meeting agendas and minutes including regular, special, or emergency meetings.
· Provide meeting agendas, draft and final minutes, warnings, and other documents to the Clerk’s Office and town website manager as well as updating other sections as requested by the Select Board.
· Work with the Town Clerk to prepare the warning for the Annual Chittenden Town meeting and assist in research and preparation of the town report.
· As needed, support the Select Board in compliance with applicable laws and issues of town governance.
· Act as a liaison between the Select Board and other parties such as committees, town counsel, VLCT, and members of the public. This may include drafting and mailing letters, composing emails, or otherwise helping the Board carry out business.
· Oversee the execution of contracts such as lawn care services, fuel service agreement, etc.
COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to perform tasks in a complete and accurate manner and demonstrate timeliness and follow-through on duties and assignments.
· Able to take initiative.
· Competence in Microsoft Office software, to include word and excel.
· Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the committees, public, town officials, and others.
· Familiarity with Open Meeting law and town governance is required. Training can be provided.
· Valid driver’s license.
