What are the responsibilities and job description for the PART-TIME PRIVATE SWIM INSTRUCTOR position at Town of Christiansburg?

The Town of Christiansburg is looking for a Private Swim Instructor to join our team at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center! If you have a love for swimming and enjoy working with participants of all ages and abilities, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact in the water.
What You'll Do:
- Teach one-on-one or small group swim lessons for all ages using the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program
- Enforce pool safety rules and provide excellent customer service
- Create an inclusive environment for all participants, including those with disabilities
- Complete course documentation and provide progress reports
- Guide instructor aides and ensure pool equipment is stored after lessons
- Report accidents/incidents and follow safety protocols
What We’re Looking For:
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (preferred) and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
- Strong swimming and safety skills with the ability to teach all skill levels
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt lessons to meet individual needs
- Previous experience in aquatics or swim instruction preferred
