The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Application and Server Administrator for the Information Technology Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts.

The Application/Server Administrator is responsible for the administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various organizational applications and server infrastructure. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive attitude towards staying current with emerging software technologies that can benefit the organization. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively in a team environment and ensure the seamless operation of critical systems.
- Administer and troubleshoot all town utilized computer applications.
- Manage, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot townwide systems and server infrastructure.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve application issues.
- Ensure software applications are up-to-date and aligned with organizational needs.
- Develop documentation and provide training to users on application functionality as needed.
- Apply patches and firmware updates to maintain system reliability and compliance.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for applications and server systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with IT team members to identify root causes and implement permanent solutions.
- Stay informed on the latest software and server technologies.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of new technologies that improve operational efficiency.
- Other duties as required.
- Proficiency in managing and administering Windows server infrastructure.
- Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting server hardware issues.
- Proficiency in hypervisor administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Linux systems (preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to professional growth and staying current with industry trends.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related major field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in application and server administration.
- Microsoft Server Administration certifications (preferred).

When a salary range is posted, the actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
