The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a part time Tennis Instructor for the Parks and Recreation Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. As a Tennis Instructor, you will be responsible for developing young athletes’ skills, fostering a love for the game, and creating a fun and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct engaging tennis lessons tailored to the skill levels and ages of 7U, 10U, and 15U players.
- Teach fundamental tennis skills, techniques, and strategies, including proper grip, footwork, stroke production, and match play.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere that encourages participation, learning, and sportsmanship.
- Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to help players improve.
- Monitor player progress, adjust lesson plans accordingly, and communicate with parents about their child's development.
- Ensure the safe use and maintenance of all tennis equipment and facilities.
- Strong knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and coaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young athletes.
- Ability to adapt coaching methods to different age groups and skill levels.
- Experience Coaching or teaching is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Passionate about tennis and committed to the development of young players.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in all interactions with players, parents, and staff.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.

When a salary range is posted, the actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
