What's The Job?
Working as a Water Plant Operator, you can expect to perform skilled trades work in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of Town water system facilities including wells, pump stations, water towers, the distribution system, water hydrants, and water meters. You are responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance and daily operation of the water plant, groundwater pumps and wells, and maintaining the proper levels of pressure in the system. You will also prepare and complete various forms, reports, and work tickets; Communicate with your supervisor, other departments, and employees; and other duties as assigned. This position may require working overtime, after hours/weekend duty, and on call to respond to and resolve emergencies.
Minimum Requirements
Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Water Plant Operator:
- High School Diploma or GED with concentration in a vocational program.
- Three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving utility maintenance
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Requires a Valid Driver’s License
- Must possess upon hire or obtain within 18 months of employment a Grade II Water Treatment Plant Operators license.
