The Town of Columbine Valley has an excellent opportunity for an individual to work on-call during Colorado's beautifully snow storms. The Town of Columbine Valley is looking for On -Call Snow Plow Operators. Working with the Public Works manager, individuals will be called in to plow snow during seasonal snowstorms.
JOB DESCRIPTION:

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, non-exempt
SUPERVISOR: Public Works Manager
BENEFIT ELIGIBLE: No
SALARY RANGE: $23.00 - 25.00 per hour
OVERVIEW
The Town of Columbine Valley is nestled along the Platte River in the south-Denver metro area. Established in 1959, the Town is comprised of approximately 670 homes surrounding Columbine Country Club. The Town staff is small, but very effective, dedicated to providing high-quality service and deliverables to a population of just over 1,500 people.
Job Description:
To operate snow removal equipment and perform general labor involving snow removal on roads, ramps, parking lots, sidewalks, and around buildings.
This is a seasonal “as needed/on-call” position. This means as weather events (snowstorms) are identified, “on-call” workers will be contacted for snow removal shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate snowplows, snow brooms, snow blower, and small tractors.
- Operate walk-behind snow thrower and ice melter equipment.
- Use hand tools to clear snow and ice.
- Provide aid and guidance to the public.
Additional Responsibilities
- Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.
- Maintains a working knowledge with the OSHA Regulations and associated safety procedures and remains alert to conditions, hazards and events occurring at the jobsite. Always utilizes the best industry safety practices.
- Report any job-related problems, accidents and/or injuries.
- Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to Town property.
- Knows and complies with all city and department policies and Town values; participates in professional trainings and development; and adheres to attendance and workplace attire policies.
- Assist crew with maintenance functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in heavy construction.
- Previous snow removal and street maintenance experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a satisfactory driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is “on-call”. The Public Works manager will reach out to these employees ahead of an anticipated snow storm to discuss work schedule.
This position may expect up to 2-7 snow storms each winter, with the work shifts between 2-12 hours depending on the amount of snow.
Physical Demands: Ability to work in and around moving traffic and equipment; in areas of limited access; and confined spaces requiring standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
Requires upper body strength to lift and carry equipment and supplies as needed.
Work Environment: Works year-round in an outdoor environment and at times in adverse weather conditions, such as rain, wind, heat, cold, and snow.
Works in an industrial setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. May experience stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions.
Machines and equipment used include but are not limited to the following: Single axel vehicles with snowplow attachment, salt spreader, snow thrower and shovels.
