First Class Lineworker | DPW Electric Division
The Town of Danvers welcomes applicants for the full-time (benefited) union position of First Class Lineworker for the Electric Department. The Town of Danvers is a reputable Town on the North Shore, providing a supportive and welcoming environment for Town staff, including a commitment to professional development and policies that support a healthy work/life balance. This position works as part of a line crew to perform the efficient and safe construction, maintenance and repair of the Town’s overhead distribution and underground electrical distribution system.
Four (4) to six (6) years of Lineworker experience in lower classifications, including at least two (2) years of satisfactory experience as a Lineworker Second Class or comparable position/title in the electric utility industry. Successful completion of National Grid, NEPPA, or comparable First Class Lineworker training program. Participation in professional development programs for continued growth and improvement is required. Massachusetts Class A or B CDL Operator's License required with airbrake endorsement and valid MA 1B/3A Hoisting License. Must maintain MA DOT medical card. Hot Stick training required, or ability to obtain prior to top step of pay grade. Physical ability to climb utility structures (heights 30'-100' ) required. Experience with electrical Materials Handling systems (inventory control) and related computer applications. Expert knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 requirements, National Electrical Safety Code and National Electric Code sections pertaining to electric utility work. Possesses thorough knowledge of the APPA Safety Manual. Must be available for stand by duty at specified times and in cases of emergency, may be called for duty at any time.
This position works 40 hours per week (Mondays – Fridays 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM). Union pay scale: Unit C. Pay Scale: starting at $54.47/hr, with the ability to move through scale (via step system) to the max step at $58.57/hr.
