What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Rescue Service Aide position at Town of Davie?
Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to perform requisition, receipt, collection maintenance, transfer, pickup, delivery and inventory of property and supplies as retained by the fire rescue vehicles and fire stations. Performs record maintenance and manual work in the storing, shelving and distribution of materials, supplies and other inventoried items. Performing all handyman and maintenance functions of the Fire Stations to include repairing light fixtures, outlets, moving furniture and other heavy items that may require the use of ladders and hand tools. Performs related work as directed. Reports to Support Service Coordinator or designee as determined by the Fire Chief.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:
- Skills in the use and care of basic hand and power tools.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Driver's license must not have been suspended within five (5) years of the date of this application (not insurance related).
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and peers in all situations.
PREFERRED
- Course work in Fire Sciences or related area.
- Previous Fire Department experience or Fire Academy graduate.
- Experience in semi-skilled work in carpentry or maintenance functions.
- Experience in inventory of property and supplies.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of Fire Rescue work.
Health Insurance
- 100% paid by the Town for single coverage, 50% paid by the Town for dependents.
- Schedule: 4 day work week – 10 hours per day (Monday-Thursday)
Leave:
- Holidays – 13 days per year.
- Sick Leave – 3.69 hours accrued per pay period
- Vacation Leave – Accrue 2 weeks per year, accrual rate increases every 5 years (capped at 4 weeks after 10 years of service).
- Birthday Leave – 1 day per year after successfully passing probation
- Quality Service – 1 day per year after successfully passing probation and other conditions.
- Wellness Days – 2 days per year after successfully passing probation.
Pension/Retirement:
- Town Sponsored Pension – mandatory 3% contributions per pay period.
- 457 Deferred Compensation Plan - Employee is entitled to make voluntary contributions through the payroll to the Town sponsored 457 deferred compensation plan only.
