Part-Time Events Coordinator
Position Overview: Are you passionate about creating memorable events that bring the community together? The Town of Dayton is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Events Coordinator to plan, organize, and implement promotional events and activities that align with our mission. Key Responsibilities:
- Event Planning and Execution: Plan, organize, and implement events, including setup, breakdown, and logistics.
- Vendor and Venue Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues and negotiate contracts.
- Volunteer Coordination: Determine volunteer staffing requirements, recruit, and train volunteers.
- Marketing and Promotion: Create marketing materials and promotional activities to encourage tourism and community participation.
- Budget Management: Create reliable financial reports, collect payments on time, and ensure all costs remain under budget.
- Problem Solving: Manage events and address potential problems, planning for scenarios that could impact the event’s integrity.
- Community Building: Build community support and maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions:
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues.
- Plan event details and aspects, including seating, dining, and guest arrangements.
- Create reliable financial reports and collect payments on time.
- Ensure all costs remain under budget.
- Manage events and address potential problems that may arise.
- Plan for potential scenarios that could impact the event’s integrity.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the complex needs of a wide variety of events.
Work Environment:
- Supervision: Work under the supervision of the Public Works Director and limited supervision of the Town Manager.
- Part-Time Role: Flexible hours to accommodate event schedules. Maximum/average of 32 hours per week, no benefits.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED and moderate experience in accounts payable and general office administration work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
