Summary:

The Town of Dennis is seeking a qualified Custodian to perform various tasks in maintaining the town's buildings and grounds, facilities, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general custodial duties, including cleaning restrooms, washing and buffing floors, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, emptying trash, etc.
• Follow and incorporate good infection control practices in daily cleaning duties.
• Perform routine maintenance and service to cleaning equipment, buildings or grounds.
• Perform basic grounds keeping and other exterior property maintenance duties.
• Required to participate in snow and ice operations and other weather-related emergencies.
• Supports town civic functions as required (IE voting, special events).
• May be required to be on call 24 hours.
• Performs assignments utilizing proper safety precautions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
• Ability to interact with employees and the general public in a courteous, helpful, and respectful manner.
• Communicates to supervisor problems regarding personnel, equipment, or ability to complete assignments.
• Required to work in all weather conditions.
• Required to operate tools and power equipment related to essential duties.
• May be required to set up rooms for Town boards, committee meetings and miscellaneous cultural or social functions.
• May be required to give direction to permanent and seasonal employees.
• Properly completes and closes out work orders in a timely fashion.
• Assists other divisions within Public Works or other departments.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 or more years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must obtain 10-hour OSHA training within 6 months of hire.
• May be required to obtain licenses for equipment required to operate.

Working Conditions:

Occasional exposure to intermittent machine or related noise or a combination of unpleasant elements, such as odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt, or grease. Includes work under typical custodial conditions or outdoor work that is suspended when weather conditions are poor.

When performing custodial or maintenance work, work requires agility and physical strength, such as moving around particularly unclean areas, or over rough terrain or standing or walking most of the work period. Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and carrying them. There may be need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials.
