Position Summary: Under the guidance of our Building Official, the Building Inspector plays a pivotal role in upholding building, plumbing, energy, and mechanical codes, as well as local ordinances. From conducting inspections to providing courteous customer service, you'll be integral in promoting the health, safety, and welfare of our community.
Hiring Range:
Building Inspector I: $61,667 -$74,000.
Building Inspector II: $69,600 - $87,000.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance with various codes.
- Provide guidance and support to contractors and the public on regulatory matters.
- Assist in enforcing town codes and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and issue necessary warnings or citations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Building Inspector I:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in building inspections, construction management, or related fields.
- Experience as a general contractor or sub-contractor specializing in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical installations will be considered.
- Ability to obtain 2 ICC certifications (Building, Plumbing, Energy, or Mechanical) within 3 years of employment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Building Inspector II:
- 5 years performing building inspections, plan review, plan design, construction management, or other related experience such as general contractor or project superintendent.
- The successful candidate shall possess the ability to obtain a total of four (4) ICC certifications for any codes related to Building, Energy, Plumbing and Mechanical within 3 years of employment.
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
