Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a challenging role in local government? We are seeking a Local Government Permit Officer to join our team at the Town of Eagle!
As a Local Government Permit Officer, you will be responsible for processing building permits and contractor license applications, reviewing plans and blueprints, coordinating with multiple departments, and maintaining accurate digital and physical records.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for building permit inquiries, provide expert guidance on building codes and fee estimates, and manage the Building Services website content. Your strong organizational skills and attention to detail will ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Work hours average 40 hours weekly, Monday – Friday flexible between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, but may vary depending on projects. Regular, predictable, and dependable on-site workplace attendance is an essential function of the job, however flexibility in schedule is supported and remote work from home is authorized one day weekly after 6 months of training.
- Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for building permit inquiries
- Process building permits and contractor license applications with attention to detail
- Review plans and blueprints to ensure completeness
- Coordinate with multiple departments to issue Certificates of Occupancy
- Maintain accurate digital and physical records
- Provide expert guidance on building codes and fee estimates
- Manage the Building Services website content
Requirements:
- Required Qualifications:
- 1 years of administrative experience with regular computer use
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellence in customer service and communication
- Ability to learn building permits and financial software
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with building and planning processes, plan review, or permitting in a public agency
- ICC Permit Tech certification (must be obtained within one year of hire)
- Knowledge of International Building and Residential Codes
- Experience with electronic content management systems
