As a Permit Technician with the Town of Eagle, you'll play a crucial role in our Community Development Department, serving as the key liaison between community members and the building process. This position combines technical knowledge with customer service excellence, as you'll guide applicants through building permit requirements, review documentation, and ensure compliance with local building codes. Working closely with both the Building and Planning Departments, you'll help maintain the integrity and safety of our community's development while providing exceptional service to contractors, homeowners, and internal teams.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the friendly first point of contact for building permit inquiries
- Process building permits and contractor license applications with attention to detail
- Review plans and blueprints to ensure completeness
- Coordinate with multiple departments to issue Certificates of Occupancy
- Maintain accurate digital and physical records
- Provide expert guidance on building codes and fee estimates
- Manage the Building Services website content
- Support the Planning Department with land use files and public notices

Requirements
Permit Tech I:
- 1 years of administrative experience with regular computer use
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellence in customer service and communication
- Ability to learn building permits and financial software
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills
Permit Technician II: in addition to requirements for a Technician I requires
- 3 years of experience in a combination of the construction related development field, government, customer service and administrative field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with building and planning processes, plan review, or permitting in a public agency
- ICC Permit Tech certification (must be obtained within one year of hire)
- Knowledge of International Building and Residential Codes
- Experience with electronic content management systems
Position Type
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Work hours average 40 hours weekly, Monday – Friday flexible between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, but may vary depending on projects. Regular, predictable, and dependable on-site workplace attendance is an essential function of the job, however flexibility in schedule is supported and remote work from home is authorized one day weekly after 6 months of training. May attend Planning and Zoning meetings (1st and 3rd Tuesday at 6 p.m.).
