The East Bridgewater Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-oriented individual for a part-time Library Assistant – Circulation position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, checking library materials in and out using an automated circulation system, enforcing library policies and procedures, including collecting fees as necessary, maintaining circulation records, answering phones, re-shelving materials, and other clerical and customer service tasks. The ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with the public is necessary. Flexibility and a strong desire to promote reading, viewing, and listening are highly preferred.
This is a part-time position working 15-19 hours per week with prorated vacation, sick, and holiday benefits. Applicants must be available to work weekdays, one evening a week, and rotating Saturdays. Position may be asked to work additional shifts on occasion.

● Helps to create an environment that is safe, user-friendly, and welcoming for community members of all ages, races, genders, and sexual orientations.
● Provides extensive customer service, including answering phones and email, helping patrons to locate materials in the collection, and offering reader’s advisory services.
● Performs circulation duties, including registering new patrons, renewing card privileges, checking materials in and out, processing interlibrary loan, and reserving all types of library materials.
● Provides basic reference services or refers questions to the Head of Adult Services.
● Enforces library policies and procedures, including collecting fees as necessary.
● Assists with promotion of library events and activities.
● Assists patrons with library tools and technology.
● Assists with the maintenance of library appearance, such as straightening shelves and creating monthly displays and seasonal decorations.
● Assists with collection maintenance, including tasks such as weeding, reading shelves and shelving materials.
● Assists with processing new materials as needed.
● Provides coverage of all library desks as needed.
● Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with co-workers and patrons, always maintaining a professional demeanor.
● Performs other related job duties as required.
Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.
Salary: $23.20 - $26.90/per hour in six steps
