Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise campers in daily activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and special events.
- Plan and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities and programs.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by maintaining a safe environment and adhering to camp policies.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages camper participation and growth.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for campers, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
- Manage camper behavior, addressing conflicts and issues with patience and good judgment.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of camp activities and events.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Follow all camp policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
- Arrive on time, prepared for work, and arrange approved substitutes if unable to work scheduled shifts.
- Report incidents, accidents, hazards, emergencies, and injuries to supervisors, and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by supervisors
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred.
- Ability to work well in a team and build positive relationships with campers and staff.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with children.
- Understanding of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Decision-making skills following established policies and procedures.
- Effective working relationships with Town staff, volunteers, sponsors, and the public.
- Firm, tactful, and impartial enforcement of rules and regulations.
- Alertness and ability to maintain a safe environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
- Must be at least 16 years old or older.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is recommended.
Salary : $29,757 - $31,577
