Pine Knoll Aquatics Director
General Description:
Primary Essential Functions:
- Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines, and advises lifeguards and volunteers. Maintains ongoing lifeguard and staff in-service training. Manages the training and professional development of personnel.
- Maintains aquatic facility providing the highest attention to safety for participants and employees including proper on deck supervision of staff, appropriate levels of lifeguard coverage, lifeguard attentiveness, proper lifeguard rotations, facility inspections and closing facility or attractions when required by health and safety guidelines. Aquatic facility risk management, safety and supervision in accordance with established Departmental and designated lifeguard licensing entities standards and protocol.
- Designs and implements recreational programs in the core service areas of aquatics, youth and family and special needs programs.
- Adhere to The Commonwealth of Massachusetts 105 CMR 435.000 for swimming pools by maintaining and operating the aquatic facility providing the highest attention to water quality and balance.
- Address scheduling, maintenance, and repair of Aquatics Department facilities/equipment in partnership with the Department of Public Works.
- Set seasonal priority objectives; improve service based on annual staff evaluations or customer evaluation/feedback.
- Maintains detailed record keeping for in-service training, water testing, chemical applications, third party and employee accident reports, critical incident and incident reports, program registration and class lists and swim lesson records.
- Work within the community to foster a positive image to encourage good public relations.
- Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events with the East Longmeadow Recreation Department.
- Monitors participants and users of the facility
- Provides and coordinates proper on deck supervision of staff, appropriate levels of lifeguard coverage
- Provides safety assistance, rescues, emergency actions and first aid when necessary.
- Develops budgetary needs of the aquatic equipment and training expenses.
- Maintains clean facility, grounds, deck, filter and chemical rooms
- Lifeguards and scans assigned zone of protection, rule enforcement, proper rotation.
- Responsible for opening, closing and securing facilities, answering phones and communication with the public.
- Produce a full aquatic director end-of-season report.
- Responsible for the scheduling of aquatics staff for Pine Knoll Day Camp.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree required, Bachelors degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a management or supervisory position in a similar aquatics capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
