Position : Waterfront Director

Reports To : Assistant Recreation Director

Job Type : Seasonal- June-August, approximately 32-40 hours / week

Hourly Rate Range : $21.00 to 23.50

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Waterfront Director / Co-director to oversee the daily operations of our waterfront activities at Sandy Beach. The ideal candidate will have a passion for water safety and a strong background in managing staff and ensuring the safety of all participants.

This is work of a specialized nature. Under the direction of the Recreation Director, the Waterfront Director / Co-Director supervise the operation of Sandy Beach.

Responsibilities :

Oversee all waterfront activities, including swimming, events and programs. Sets up and conducts staff seminars at the start of each season. Directs staff meetings.
Recognition and prevention of potentially dangerous situations; implementation of appropriate action.
Rescue, resuscitation and first aid administration in relevant situations.
Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of all participants..
Manage a team of lifeguards and instructors, providing training, re-training, evaluation and support as needed. Approves staff pay slips.
Maintain all equipment and facilities, ensuring they are in good working order and meet safety standards
Develop and implement programming that meets the needs and interests of our participants
Communicate regularly with parents and participants to ensure a positive experience for all involved
Monitors inventory of supplies and recommends purchases of waterfront supplies.
Receives and reviews written and oral reports pertaining to beach.
Prepare oral and written reports pertaining to the swimming staff, program, equipment and facility.

Requirements :

Lifeguard Training and WSI certifications (preferred)

High School graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a lifeguard

Current certification in lifeguarding, CPR / AED, and First Aid

Must be able to swim and perform rescues in open water

Strong leadership, supervisory, instructional / coaching and communication skills

Experience in swimming and lifesaving instruction.

Ability to work collaboratively with staff, participants, and parents while enforcing regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially.

Knowledge of rescue methods and first aid related to accidents in the water and surrounding area.

Ability to manage inventory.

OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Ability to demonstrate physical endurance, visual and auditory acuity, professionalism and skills in using lifesaving equipment and techniques.

Preferences :

Instructor / Trainer for WSI, Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, AED

Salary : $21 - $24
