Emerald Isle, a picturesque beach town with a permanent population of 3,700 residents, and a summertime population of almost 35,000, is seeking qualified applicants for TWO full-time Police Officer positions!
Our community is known for its award-winning beaches, welcoming atmosphere, and strong sense of community spirit. The Emerald Isle Police Department is comprised of approximately thirty sworn officers (permanent and part-time) and eight support staff. This role requires active community involvement, the ability to foster positive relationships with the public, and the representation of our department goals, Honor, Integrity, and Transparency.
Responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Advising the public on laws and ordinances
- Performing investigations
- Investigating traffic accidents
- Directing Traffic
- Preparing records and reports of activities
- Patrolling street(s) and beach in car, on foot, or on a bicycle
- Working effectively in a team environment
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age, be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. The applicant must also be a graduate of BLET, be eligible for certification as a law enforcement officer through NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards and possess or be eligible for a N.C. Driver’s License.
Other:
Must pass a stringent background investigation, physical examination, drug screen and psychological evaluation.
