What are the responsibilities and job description for the Highway Shop Foreman position at Town of Essex?
The Town of Essex is receiving applications for full time employment as our Shop Foreman.
The Shop Foreman provides daily maintenance and repairs in-house, or as appropriate facilitates the outsourcing of work, of the Public Works vehicle and equipment fleet and may assist with repairs to other Town vehicles as needed. The position involves skilled technical work in equipment maintenance on public works vehicles, including winter plowing equipment and other town equipment. The Shop Foreman is responsible for purchasing minor repair parts for vehicles within limits set by the Public Works Director. This role also reviews equipment specifications for purchase of new or replacement parts/vehicles and is responsible for maintenance shop area to include shop safety, management and checks on underground fuel storage tanks, and storage of shop repair parts and lubricants.
The qualified candidate should have a High school education or GED and seven years’ experience as a mechanic with knowledge of both diesel and gasoline engines, with emphasis on heavy duty road maintenance equipment.

The pay range for this role is between $28.09 and $34.34 with the actual starting salary based on qualifications and experience.
