What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afternoon Cart Barn Attendant (Seasonal) position at Town of Fairfield?
The Afternoon Cart Barn Attendant will provide outstanding customer service, directions to patrons around the golf course grounds, tournament assistance, rental club and golf cart rental procedures as well as the availability and cleanliness of rental carts, daily maintenance of the entire golf cart fleet, general janitorial duties around the clubhouse; which includes trash removal, mopping and cleaning restrooms and any other duties needed by the golf professionals. Some light manual labor may be expected at times. This position works in both indoor and outdoor environments and the incumbent’s expected work schedule may include weekdays, weekends and holidays. The schedule from 1:00PM until dark and the work assignment will run from April 1 until December 1.

- Attends to the golf cart fleet
- Stages carts; cleaning, checking carts after each use and returning carts to staging area at
the end of the day
- Ensures the cart barn and clubhouse area are kept orderly and clean, including trash
receptacles, wash station, shoe brushes, doorways clear of leaves and grass
- Provides information regarding the golf course, play time, and other golf related issues.
- Supplies members and guests with scorecards, pencils and other items if needed.
- Ensures the carts are available for player use at all times.
- Retrieves range balls from the range and manages range ball supply as needed
- Performs minimum repairs to carts as needed; such as but not limited to, ensure appropriate tire pressure, notifying supervisor staff of any major repairs needed.
- Ensures divot mix is in every cart before storing and staging carts
- Other duties as assigned, including tasks which support essential functions and may be
changed or redesigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Some knowledge of the game of golf and golf operations is required
- Ability to perform in a courteous and professional manner at all times
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and enforce course policies, rules and regulations
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
- Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions
- Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs., up to 30 lbs.
- Thorough knowledge of hazards, safety rules, and regulations applicable to area of responsibility.
- Flexible availability including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 16 years or older
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Basic mechanical knowledge, including the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on golf carts
SCHEDULE
- Expected hours: 30-35 hours per week from April 1 until December 1
PAY RANGE
- $16.50 per hour
